Holiday functionality is optional in StaffLeave, and can be turned off completely. You can also specify if Managers can authorise and view requests, as well as define the company's start month and holiday roll over policy from one period to another.
Additional settings, such as hourly support, and holiday work patterns are currently in development.
To edit holiday settings:-
- Login to your StaffLeave company portal (you can also access this via www.staffleave.com)
- Click on "My Account" towards the top right of your screen
- Scroll down and find your company, clicking on the green "manage company" button
- Locate "Holiday Settings" from the left-hand menu (you may be prompted to log in again if you came via staffleave.com)
- Make any changes as required.
Holiday Settings in Detail
Holiday settings allow you to change the behaviour of how StaffLeave works.
By default, StaffLeave uses the following privacy settings for leave visibility:-
- A staff member can only see leave of those in their department.
- An administrator can see leave for all members of a team.
- A manager can see all leave for any staff members in their own department.
You can do the following to change this behaviour:-
- Hide Department Holidays: This allows you to hide any leave on the main Planner from displaying to a staff member. With this set to Yes, they will only see their own leave, unless the Team planner is public.
- Set Planner Public to Team: This allows you to make the main Planner public to all members of the team, including those outside of a staff members department.
Leave notification Behaviour for Administrators and Managers
By default, when an approver is set for a staff member, department managers and administrators will not receive a copy of a leave notification.
To change this behaviour, you can CC an administrator or manager to receive a copy of this notification, both via email and as a mobile notification. If an administrator has both email and mobile notifications turned off under their own personal privacy settings, then they will not receive any notifications.
Blocking Reserved Days from Being Bookable
StaffLeave supports the ability to block specific days from being bookable. Currently, this supports UK bank holidays, and weekends. This setting works in synchronisation with a User's holiday settings, and can be over-ridden if a user is marked as working on a weekend, or a public holiday. Further support for other regions is coming soon. By default, this setting is set to no.
When using Reserved Day Blocking, we recommend allocating users allowances to exclude public holidays.
Holiday Overbooking
With StaffLeave you can let your team overbook beyond their allocated allowance. By default this setting is set to No.
Holiday Start Month, and Rollover Settings
StaffLeave supports the ability to change the holiday start month for your team. We only support dates from the 1st of the chosen month, and we currently don't support start months on a per-employee basis at the moment.
By default, the holiday start month is January, and days to rollover is set to None
You can also specify if you want to roll over any unused leave for your staff. If a value is defined, then any untaken leave for a staff member will auto roll over into the following leave year.
A 48-hour notification warning will be sent to all administrators prior to any leave rolling over.
Per User Holiday Settings
The ability to book holidays on a per-user basis can be controlled via the People section.
